Something I enjoy about traveling is getting to see and use so many different kinds of currency. The New Israeli Shekel ( shown by using ₪ ) is one of the most colorful currencies I've seen so far, much more visually interesting than the uniform green I'm used to seeing in the states.
I did a little reading and found out that Israel's money isn't actually made in Israel. The coins are made in Korea and the banknotes are made in Switzerland.
The current exchange rate is 3.477 Shekels for 1 USD... so these bills aren't quite what they seemed at first to my Euro/USD programed mind. It's taken me awhile to adjust to the exchange rate.
20 ₪ = $5.75
50 ₪ = $14.38
100 ₪ = $ 28.76
200 ₪ = $ 57.52
