Yarkon Park פארק הירקון

Last night I had my second Shabbat dinner, which was once again, fabulous. This week we had a dinner with some of Raz's friends, one of whom was a contestant on the Israeli TV show Master Chef. Although he didn't win on the the show, he probably should have. This dinner was phenomenal. We had sweet Challah with humus, a delicious barley tomato soup, mashed potatoes (called Puree in Hebrew פירה), and some of the most delicate flavorful beef I've ever had. Thanks to the several cooks in the kitchen my second Shabbat was enough to make me wonder if i should ever come home and leave all the delicious food here behind. I was so excited about the dinner I failed to document it, I did find this photo online so those of you who have never seen Challah can glimpse how beautiful it is.

Today we went to Yarkon Park which I fell in love with. Despite it being early February, this afternoon was warm and sunny and we wandered through the park finding baby ducks, wild parrots, and a lovely array of flora. It was wonderful to walk through such green open spaces and set by the pond. I found so many plants and animals I've not seen before, it's wonderful. sadly my zoom lens is not what I wish it were so most of the birds I saw went undocumented. Raz has been coming to this park for years so he was less ecstatic about everything than I was, but we had a truly lovely afternoon.
